Greenhill, the lodge bathed in history, is located near Hastings in the heart of renowned Hawke's Bay wine country. Set among 12 hectares of park-like grounds it commands panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. With two luxurious suites complete with separate sitting room and twin bathrooms and three king-bedded rooms with ensuites, Greenhill hosts just 12 guests at a time. The restored manor features a large entrance hall with hand-painted lead lights and carved archways, while the guests' sitting room has a large log fire for warmth in the winter months. The main dining room, like all these rooms, has grand proportions and a stately charm. The fine guest accommodation enjoys a broad, north facing veranda overlooking the gardens.
Among the homestead's unexpected delights is a three-storey viewing turret, complete with telescope, which affords a view of the Hawke's Bay countryside and the evening lights of the Bay towns. Enjoy a game in the classic wood panelled billiard room; try out the fully-equipped gymnasium, swimming pool or pétanque piste; get sedentary in the library or active on the internet. Take a mountain bike and explore the area - you're just six kilometres from the closest local vineyard. |
