Treetops is hidden in the hills behind Rotorua and is just a-25 minute drive from the town. The hunting-style lodge is set on a working farm that is covered by native forest. Each villa and suite has views across the forest, which is home to native birds, deer, ducks and pheasant. Beyond the boundaries of the nature park there are areas set aside for game shooting. You could call Treetops a hunting lodge but most people who come here are looking for a relaxing escape in peaceful surrounds. The stud of the main lodge building is over 20 metres high. Impressive wooden beams stretch across the roof and deep sunken leather sofas complete the hunting lodge look.
The open plan farm kitchen is conducive to interaction between the chef and guests. Watch the chef whip you up a little local duck or venison whilst sipping on a New Zealand Pinot Noir-it doesn't get much better than this. Apart from hunting, other activities include horse trekking with a local guide through the surrounding forest and hiking upon the many well sign-posted trails. The villas are spacious and each have large fire places and floor to ceiling windows to take advantage of the greenery beyond. |
